Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are the agreement between you and us when you use Distinction — the website at distinction.study and the revision materials we provide through it (the “Service”). The Service is run by DISTINCTION.STUDY PTE. LTD. (UEN 202631567G), a company registered in Singapore (“Distinction”, “we”, “us”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, please read them together with a parent or guardian.

In short: we make revision notes and audio for your own personal study. Pay fairly, don’t share or copy the material, and if it’s not right for you in the first 7 days, we’ll refund you.

1. What we provide

Distinction is an independent study and revision aid for the Singapore O-Level syllabus. It’s delivered as written notes and audio that you access through your account.

Three honest things to know up front:

• We are independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to SEAB or MOE.
• Our materials are written in our own words. They support your revision — they are a study aid, not official examination materials.
• We can’t promise grades. We do not guarantee any particular examination result.

2. Your account

You need an account to access most content. When you create one, you agree to:

• give us accurate information;
• keep your login details secure;
• take responsibility for what happens under your account.

Your account is for one person — please don’t share your login. If you think someone has used your account without your permission, tell us promptly.

3. Plans, pricing and payment

We offer a recurring subscription and, from time to time, a fixed-period access pass (for example, an “Exam Pass” valid until a stated date). The price and what’s included are always shown at the point of purchase.

• Payment. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We never store your full card details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically. A recurring subscription renews at the price in effect at the time of renewal, and keeps renewing until you cancel.
• Passes just end. A fixed-period pass does not renew — it simply ends on its stated date.
• No mid-period price changes. Prices may change over time, but we will never change the price of a billing period you have already paid for.

4. Cancellation and refunds

In short: cancel anytime, and there’s a 7-day money-back guarantee.

• Cancelling. You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
• 7-day money-back guarantee. If the Service isn’t right for you, contact us within 7 days of your first purchase and we’ll refund it.

The guarantee is offered in good faith and is subject to fair use. For example, it may not apply where there are signs of misuse, or where the same content is repeatedly refunded and repurchased.

5. How you may use the content

In short: use the materials for your own study. Don’t copy them, share them, or feed them to an AI.

While your account is active, we give you a personal licence to access and use the materials for your own study. “Personal” means it’s for you alone: you can’t pass it to anyone else (non-transferable), and it isn’t exclusive to you (non-exclusive).

You may not:

• copy, record, or download the materials (except where we expressly provide a download);
• republish, share, sell or redistribute them;
• give other people access through your account;
• use the materials to build or train any product, dataset or AI model;
• try to bypass any access, streaming or security control.

These limits protect the work that goes into making the material.

6. Our intellectual property

All materials on the Service — the notes, audio, artwork, and the site itself — are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by law. These Terms don’t transfer any ownership to you; you get only the personal licence described in section 5.

7. Availability and changes to content

We work hard to keep the Service available and the content accurate and up to date. As syllabuses and our understanding evolve, we may add, update, correct or remove material. We can’t promise the Service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Disclaimers

In short: we take real care over accuracy, but this is a revision aid — not a replacement for school.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis — in plain terms, we offer it as it stands, without promising it will always be perfect. Specifically:

• The materials are a revision aid. They are not a substitute for your school, your teachers, or official examination guidance.
• We do not warrant that the materials are complete, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties (promises the law would otherwise read into a contract).

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• we will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss (losses that are a knock-on effect rather than a direct result); and
• our total liability to you for any claim connected with the Service is capped at the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Singapore law.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. If these Terms are broken (for example, by sharing or redistributing content), we may suspend or end access — and we will act reasonably when we do.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a significant (material) change, we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. The “last updated” date at the top always shows the current version.

12. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be treated as removed, and the rest of the Terms stay in full effect.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute.
